ZIRCONIA PORCELAIN AND ELECTROCHEMICAL ELEMENT USING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To obtain a zirconia porcelain having an improved thermal shock resistance and to improve the activity of the electrode and low-temperature workability when applied to an electrochemical element. CONSTITUTION:An MgO component is blended in the grain boundary part of a partially stabilized zirconia containing yttria as a stabilizer and MgO, Al2O3 and SiO2 as sintering auxiliaries are added to the partly yttria-stabilized zirconia respectively in a prescribed amount. The resultant zirconia porcelain having an improved thermal shock resistance is used as a solid electrolyte for an electrochemical element.
