Extended socket (6', 60) replaces the usual socket buried in the ground, into which the hollow guide post (1) is inserted. The lower end of the socket is closed by a heat-conducting baseplate (5) which radiates in the IR range to an angled, (45 deg.), mirror in the post, which throws a horizontal beam through a window (20) at pref. height to sensors mounted on vehicles. USE/ADVANTAGE - Avoids supply of, e.g. electrical, energy for active systems. Avoids complex construction of heat conducting and insulating passive system using ground heat. Avoids massive metal rods or tubes for conduction up post, which are also detrimental to traffic safety.
