The damper consists of shape memory metal. The damper is made from sintered metal grains (A-F) of different shape memory alloys spread evenly over the damper section (3) and plated across or parallel to load (8) with fullface-connected sheet layers of different shape memory alloys (A-F). Thin firmly inter-bonded metal bars of the different alloys are lined up parallel to the load direction (8) and pinned in place at uniform intervals over the damper section. The alloys (A-F) differ in their respective martensite onset temperatures (MSA-MSF), pref. by 10 to 20 deg.K. USE/ADVANTAGE - Engineering components, e.g. reversible cutter plates. Shape memory metal damper as grains, plates and bars differing in martensite onset temperature absorbs alternating loads over wide temperature range.
