PURPOSE:To improve flatness in a manufacturing method of color filters used in a liquid crystal display and so on. CONSTITUTION:In color filters 21 and 22 formed by embedding black matrix patterns 4 and chromatic picture elements 25 in the surface of a transparent substrate 1 and a manufacturing method thereof, color filters 23 and 24 in which the surface of the transparent substrate 1 formed by embedding the black matrix patterns 4 and the chromatic picture elements 25 is coated with transparent insulating films 29 and 30 can be also obtained. The color filter 21 is constituted in such a way that the first recess part 26 is formed on the transparent substrate 1 by means of dry etching and the second recess part 27 is formed by using the black matrix patterns 4 filled in the recess part 26 and the picture elements 25 are filled in the recess part 27. The color filter 22 is constituted in such a way that a plate shape recess part 28 is formed on the transparent substrate 1 and the black matrix patterns 4 are formed in the recess part 28 and the chromatic picture elements 25 are filled in transmission holes in the black matrix patterns 4. |
