A vehicle having one or more hydraulic shock absorbers (42) is described. The vehicle includes means for activating a lock which prevents hydraulic fluid flow within the shock absorber(s) (42) and thereby to prevent vertical movement of at least the rear of the vehicle chassis. Control means is provided for controlling the activation means which may also be operable to alternately activate a raise/lower valve (10), for adjusting the height of the vehicle chassis, and a levelling valve, for maintaining the height of the vehicle chassis to a preset level. The control means may comprise a manual pilot 3/2 valve (12). The activator means may comprise a pneumatic piston cylinder device (20) operatively connected to a valve which controls fluid flow in the shock absorber(s) of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
