PURPOSE:To jet ink droplets stably by a method wherein the volume of a common reservoir for feeding ink into plural pressure chambers is set to be larger than a specified value, in the ink jet head having the plural pressure chamber in the same head. CONSTITUTION:In the on-demand type ink jet head having the plural pressure chambers 4, nozzles 6, piezo-electric elements 8 and the like in the same head, the common reservoir 9 for feeding the ink into the pressure chambers 4 is provided to temporarily reserve the ink being fed from an ink cartridge through an ink feed pipe 10, and the ink is directed from the reservoir 9 into each passage through respective ink feed chambers 7. The volume of the reservoir 9 is set to be more than two times of the total volume of the pressure chambers 4 and the passage in the proximity thereof, to enhance the ink feed characteristics and reduce the change in the size of jetted ink droplets. |
