<p>The liquid crystal indicator instrument consists of a front and rear glass between which a liquid crystal substance is enclosed. The element glasses carry electrodes which have connections at the edges of the liquid crystal cell. Two rigid printed circuit boards carrying the electronic controls, are arranged to form a prismatic space between themselves, and the LC cell, having a triangular cross-section, containing an illumination source, the peak of the triangular formation connected by a small piece of flexible circuit board which contacts both boards. Electrical contact between the LCD and the printed circuit boards is by means of a circular cross-section conducting rubber which contacts the electrodes of the LCD as well as conductor strips on the boards. The framework which supports the main components has a viewing window and a screwed wedge each side for tightening the circuit boards against the conducting rubbers, the use of which, reduces the cost of production.</p> |
