PURPOSE:To set a confirmed address from a maintenance equipment to a main body equipment without manual intervention when the movement of the main body equipment is frequent in the network system by utilizing a call packet from the maintenance equipment so as to set its own address of the main body equipment to a confirmed address. CONSTITUTION:Upon the receipt of a call packet with a destination address set thereto when its own address is 0, packet exchange processing units 3-1 to 3-N write a destination address set to a signal to own address storage areas 31-1 to 31-N to set a communication path and upon the receipt of a call packet with a call packet with no destination address set thereto, the packet exchange processing units 3-1 to 3-N do not set a communication path. Moreover, when the call packet with a destination address set thereto is received while its own address is other than 0, both addresses are compared and when they are equal, the communication packet is set and when they are different, the communication packet is not set. A maintenance equipment 2 sets the destination address to the call packet to set the communication packet and makes a call.
