PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for removal of NOx in a wide temp. range even at a lean side at which an excess of oxygen over the stoichiometric amt. coexists by dispersing and supporting Cu or Cu and a noble metal such as Pt or Pd on crystalline aluminogallosilicate as a carrier. CONSTITUTION:Cu or Cu and a noble metal such as Pt ot Pd are dispersed and supported on crystalline aluminogallosilicate as a carrier. The chemical compsn. of the aluminogallosilicate in the amorphous state is represented by a formula {(x+y)/n}M<n->:(Alx GaySiz)O2 (where M is at least one kind of n-valent cation, x, y and z are the mol fractions of Al, Ga and Si present as tetrahedral oxides in the skeleton structure, x+y+z=1.00, 0.909<=z<=0.990, 0<x/y<=4 and z/x<= 500). A single Cu, or Cu and a noble metal such as Pt or Pd are dispersed in the carrier. |
