PURPOSE:To miniaturize an optical pattern recognition device by forming a three-dimensional waveguide optical system by arranging flat optical elements consisting of a diffraction grating, a Fourier transformation lens, a mirror, and a light modulation layer on the surfaces opposite to each other of a transparent base board. CONSTITUTION:Diffraction grating holographic gratings (HG) 2,6, polarized beam splitters 3,5, and the holographic Fourier transformation lens 4 are arranged on the upper surface of the transparent base board 1. The light modulation layers 7,8 and a dielectric multilayer film mirror 9 are arranged on the lower surface of the transparent base board 1. In an input picture write-in process (a), input picture write-in light 10a irradiates the light modulation layer 7. In a joint Fourier transformation write-in process (b), coherent light 11 irradiates the HG 2. In a correlation function write-in process (c), the coherent light 12 irradiates the HG 6. In a correlation function read-out process (d) the correlation function recorded on the light modulation layer 7 is read out by irradiating it with correlation read-out light 13. |
