Firstly a conical starting hole is produced in the lead workpiece without any requirement for dimensional accuracy and surface evenness. The workpiece is then heated to a temp. below the melting point of the lead. - At this temp., a spike is driven into the prepared hole with the required surface evenness and straightness. |
