FILTER REGENERATION DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To provide an improved microwave heating type regeneration device which ensures regeneration of the filter function, by combustion-removing the particulates in the vicinity of the exhaust gas upstream side end surface of the filter, in a filter regenerating device which collects the particulates in the exhaust gas of a Diesel engine. CONSTITUTION:A filter regenerating device for internal combustion engine is equipped with a microwave generating means 19 which supplies microwaves from the exhaust gas downstream side of a catching filter 18 and a gas feeding means 21 for generating the gas containing oxygen for the flow in the opposite direction to the exhaust gas flow direction of the filter. The particulate which is caught and piled in the vicinity of the exhaust gas upstream side edge surface of the filter is perfectly combustion-removed, and the clogging of an exhaust gas inflow hole to the filter is prevented, and the filter function is secured.
