PURPOSE:To provide a new compound having excellent storage stability of highlight, fastness of color-developed image and resistance to plasticizer and useful for heat-sensitive recording material, etc. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [R<1> is (halogen or lower alkyl- substituted) aralkyl or alkenyl; R<2> is H or methyl; R<2> is methyl when R<1> is benzyl free from substituent], e.g. 4-benzyloxy-4'-(2-methylglycidyloxy) diphenylsulfone. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a phenol of formula II with an epichlorohydrin compound of formula III. A heat- sensitive recording material containing a color-developing dye (e.g. fluoran-based dye), a color-developing agent for the dye and the compound of formula I is useful for facsimile, etc. |
