PURPOSE: To recognize a position in a recorded video signal during a shuttle mode by recording and reading DC luminance information at the center of each track on a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION: In normal operations, a reproducing head follows up a path 36 over the full length of track 38. All the sub-band components are read from the track 38, and a complete high-quality image 40 is reproduced through an interpolation-type filter. During the shuttle operation mode, on the other hand, the path of the reproducing head just crosses several tracks because of tape speed and does not follow the full length of track. The position for the reproducing head to cross one track can be controlled, so as to be the almost center of track recording the dc luminance information. Since a reproduced image is derived from only one part of all the image information, this image is displayed while being blocked or excessively filtered as a result. By observing an image 44, the user can identify the desired tape position to be searched. |
