PURPOSE:To increase resolution of a DC type PDP device, to increase contrast, and to increase luminance. CONSTITUTION:A display cell is selected from a reference circuit 26, in which an anode data signal B of an anode is of OFF level when a cathode of numeral (n-1)th line, stored in a memory 25, is selected, while the anode data signal B of the anode is of ON level when a cathode of numeral (n)th line is selected. Directly before an ON signal is applied to an anoide belonging to the display cell from an anode driver 24, a signal A of higher electric potential than the ON signal of the anode driver 24, is applied thereto by an anode driver 28 for discharge starting, for a predetermined short period of time. For a predetermined period of time after a cathode of numeral (n+1) th line is selected, a signal J for discharge continuation of lower electric potential than a cathode scanning signal H of a cathode driver 32, is applied to the cathode of numeral (n)th line by a cathode driver 35 for discharge continuation, and the lighting is thus continued. |
