PURPOSE:To provide the optical card which is improved in water resistance, solvent resistance, oxygen resistance, etc., and the process for producing this card. CONSTITUTION:A laminated work plate which is formed with an optical recording layer 2 larger than a card size on the side formed with the rugged preformats of a transparent substrate 1, is provided with an adhesive layer 3 and a thermoplastic resin layer 5 having the thermal deformation temp. lower than the thermal deformation temp. of the transparent substrate 1 and a supporting substrate 4 and is larger than the card size is cut by a laser beam from the supporting substrate 4 side. The thermoplastic resin layer 5 is thermally deformed and drooped by the heat of the laser beam, by which the cut surfaces of the optical recording layer 2 and the transparent substrate 1 are coated and the optical recording layer 2 is protected. |
