PURPOSE:To improve an input power factor of an air conditioner, to reduce harmonic waves and to suppress a conversion loss of an AC/DC converter of the conditioner. CONSTITUTION:A power source, and at least a reactor and a switching element for constituting a closed circuit are provided in an AC/DC converter for converting an AC power source to a DC. The element is controlled to be turned ON/OFF, and first and second electric angles of an AC half period are obtained according to an AC input current of an air conditioner. When it reaches the first electric angle point B (point D), the ON/OFF control of the element is stopped. Thereafter, when it reaches the second electric angle point C (point E), the ON/OFF control of the element is again started. |
