<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a method and device for monitoring abnormality of submersible cable such as kink or snaking. CONSTITUTION:The abnormality monitor for submersible cable comprises a television camera movable circumferentially while following up marks made on the cable, an apparatus V1 for measuring the moving length of the cable, and a recorder for recording first movement information fed from the apparatus V1 and second movement information of the camera in the circumferential direction thus monitoring abnormality. Kind of cable can be monitored based on the movement length and the displacement of the mark. Furthermore, radial variation of the cable can also be monitored based on the longitudinal and lateral diameters of the cable monitored through two cameras.</p> |
