摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the optical memory of the electrophotographic device constituted by using an amorphous photosensitive body and to minimize the degradation in electrostatic chargeability, potential shift, unequal image densities and dependency on temp. CONSTITUTION:The electrophotographic device includes a main destaticizing light source 16 which is provided in proximity to the surface of the a-Si photosensitive body 11 and is driven by a pulse width modulation lighting system using a reference wave R of <=10kHz frequency (namely, this device is driven by a driving circuit 17 which outputs the square waves formed by using the saw tooth reference wave R of <=10kHz frequency). A drum 10 is driven by a drum driving device (not shown in Fig.) so as to rotate at a rotating speed at which the value obtd. by dividing a circumferential speed (mm/sec) by the frequency of the reference wave R attains <=1mm. A photoconductive layer 22 of the a-Si photosensitive body contains the carbon atoms at which the content is minimized nearest the surface layer 23. The surface layer 23 contains the carbon atoms, nitrogen atoms and oxygen atoms at the ratios at which the sum of the contents attains 40 to 90atomic%.
