In general, work holders capable of manipulating large work pieces are somewhat cumbersome or require frequent loosening and tightening to permit repositioning of a work piece. An apparatus for solving these problems includes a stand defined by an H-shaped base with a post extending upwardly therefrom, a bearing sleeve mounted on the top end of the post, a shaft extending through the bearing sleeve for rotation around a horizontal axis, a load support disc or plate on one end of the shaft for supporting a work piece, and a slack adjuster on the other end of the shaft for rotating the latter to manipulate the work piece. A second version of the work holder includes a head pivotally mounted on the top of the post for rotation around a horizontal axis, and a second slack adjuster for rotating the head to incline the work piece carrying shaft. The second slack adjuster can form part of the turnbuckle, and a slack adjuster can be used for rotating the first slack adjuster. |
