PURPOSE:Endo-N-acetylmuramidase is made to act on a bacterium in Bifidobacterium in the presence of a disaccharide to prepare protoplast in a short time and in high yield. CONSTITUTION:Endo-N-acetylmuramidase which has been isolated and purified from Streptomyces globisporus is made to act on a bacterium in Bifidobacterium such as Bifidobacterium bifidum in the presence of a disaccharide such as sucrose, lactose, maltose or trehalose as an osmotic pressure controller. |
