<p>PURPOSE:To intend easy and quick dissolution of chopped fragment of nuclear fuel and crushed fragment of nuclera fuel pellet by providing an impact crushing process after a chopping process. CONSTITUTION:Chopped fragments 2 of fuel element which have been previously chopped to predetermined length, are stored and kept in a space consisting of a lower receiving table 3 of an impact crusher 12, side walls 4 and a pressing part 5. A weight 6 of specific weight value is dropped from specific height, and impact force thereof is transfered to the chopped fragments 2 through the pressing part 5, to crush down the fragments by the impact force. In this occasion, the weight 6 is pulled up by a crane or so, and is made to drop by an electro-magnetic switch. The chopped fragments 2 receive impact energy which is proportional to the weight value of the weight 6 and the dropping height and inversely proportional to area of the pressing part 5, and fuel cladding tubes 2b are deformed and the fuel pellets 2a are crushed down as well. Namely, a plenty of cracks are generated in the pellets 2a and the pellets are fragmented into fine particles. The cracks generated, increase contacting area to a nitric acid during dissolution process to accelerate dissolution speed thereof.</p> |
