The assembly unit comprises elements for fastening inlet and outlet distribution pipes of public mains in an assembly position corresponding to the connection distance of the pipes of a regulating or metering device. It includes pipes in the form of a sleeve 4, 5 which are located in a body 1 shaped from reinforced concrete cast on site, these pipes follow the proposed line of the inlet and outlet pipes 2, 3 and exhibit a diameter greater than that of the inlet and outlet pipes, and a support device 11 holding a linking section 15 connecting the inlet and outlet pipes 2, 3 and the linking pipes of a regulating or metering device is welded to the reinforcing members 10 of the body 1.
