Press with multisection connecting rod - has two rod sections, connected by ball and socket joint, and guided in ram movement direction

The multi-section connnecting rod is used, to transmit power from the drive to the press ram. It consists of at least two sections, e.g. upper and lower rod (1,3), switched in series. They are connected by a joint (2). The upper end of the lower rod, and/or the joint, are guided in movement direction of the ram (5). The joint consists of a ball and socket joint. The guide is fastened to the press frame (7). The end of the lower rod engaging into the ram is formed as a plate. The plate acts via pressure plates (9) supported on balls (10). There is a free space between plate and ram. The edge of the pressure plate is flattened. The dia. of the edge is larger than the radius of an individual ball. USE/ADVANTAGE - Forces acting on ram and tool are directed in movement direction of the ram only.
