The in-line coupling has a drive shaft (3) with a formed coupling half having a cut-away cup (41). A pair of clamping elements (6) fits into the cup and the formed blade (13) of the output coupling half (5) duly fits into position. The ends (52) of the blade locate in slots (8) to effect the coupling upon relative rotary motion. A pair of elastic spring elements (7) locates between the blades and the clamping elements to apply a resisting force when an adjustment is made. ADVANTAGE - Provides good torque transmission in drive direction but prevents torque being returned from release or lowering direction.
