Single-axle trailer with steerable wheels - has free-running steering type axle, and adjusts trail angle in bends by tyre trailing action

The single-axle trailer is connected without a pivoting draw-bar, and has steerable wheels(3). It has at least two trailer couplings(8,9) for rigid connection to a towing vehicle(1). The trailer axle(7) is formed as a free-running steering type axle. During forward and reverse driving through bands, the axle adjusts the necessary trail angle through the dynamic tyre trailing action. The trailer has a stering damper(5) and also a return spring(6) which engages on a track rod(4), which is connected to both wheels. One of the two trailer couplings is a centre coupling. The other coupling is formed by a lever arm pivoted about a vertical shaft(10) on the trailer. USE/ADVANTAGE - Single axle trailer with pivoting wheels is of simple construction, easy to handle in bends.
