PURPOSE:To accurately adjust the output level of a density detector by automatically adjusting the output level of the density detector. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with an output level adjusting means for the densit detector 1 automatically adjusting the output level of the density detector, and a control means 2 allowing a cleaning device to clean, at least, a region used for adjusting the output level of the density detector, on a photosensitive body, before the output level of the density detector is adjusted by the output level adjusting means for the density detector 1. Then, the output level of the density detector is automatically adjusted after the cleaning is finished. Thus, it is unnecessary that the output signal level of the density detector is manually adjusted, and the load of an operator is reduced. Further, since the photosensitive body is cleaned before the density detector is adjusted, the density detector is not adjusted in a state where staining caused by toner remains on the photosensitive body, but the density detector can be accurately adjusted. |
