The metering pump for a high viscosity medium having a connecting rod (10) with a constant stroke and a rocker arm (16) whose middle bearing (17) is adjustable relative to the rocker arm along a line (23) which passes through a point (22) corresponding to the forward top dead centre of the piston (6). A positioning spindle (27) is used to adjust the stroke of the piston and is arranged with at least a part parallel to the line.
