The headrest comprises a cushion enclosing a support bracket secured, in turn, to a support bar, whose bottom end engages a locking socket in the backrest. The socket has, at a given heigh, a latching strip. A release button at the top of the socket frees the strip, engaging in a notch in the bar. The lug (38) is at the bottom end (33) of the socket (27) and is coupled by a rod (46) to the release button (39). The rod is pref. works in a bearing in the socket.
