The video recorder may be operated to playback to another video recorder. A comb filter (6) with a one or two-line delay line (7) is provided to reduce cross-talk in the colour carrier (C). The comb filter is switched off during the transfer operation between the recorders. In order to switch the comb filter off, a switch (S) is provided which is coupled to a second switch which switches the path of the luminance signal (Y) during transfer. The delay line is pref. shunted by the switch (S) during transfer. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for VHS video recorder with edit function. Reduces loss in colour signal quality.
