An insulating compsn consists of (A) at least 1 thermoplastic polymer, pref. polyethersulphone, polyetherimide, polyphenylenesulphide, polyaryl ether ketone, esp. injection mouldable fluoropolymer, esp. PTFE; and (B) polymer particles made conductive by doping. The conducting polymer is pref. a polypyrrole salt, esp. of formula (1), where n is an integer 2-10; m is an integer at least 200; each R is independently alkyl, esp. up to 18C alkyl; and A is an acid anion, esp. HSO4, ClO4, tolylsulphonate or lauryl sulphonate. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for an insulating nozzle in a high tension switch filled with a protective gas. The compsn. is resistant to thermal and photolytic decomposition and shows little tendency to treeing.
