COMBINATION PLANT FOR PRODUCING PIG IRON AND METHANOL

PURPOSE:To obtain a plant capable of using a steam coal which has been difficult to be used in a process of conventional melt-pig iron production and enabling the mitigation of the restrictions on operation conditions. CONSTITUTION:Combustible gas generated in the production of molten pig iron in a melting gasification furnace 1 of a melt-pig iron production process 18 is passed through a gas-cleaning process 28 and a decarbonation process 58 to remove unnecessary substances, a CO shift reaction process 48 to adjust the ratio of carbon monoxide to hydrogen in the combustible gas to a level suitable for methanol synthesis and finally a methanol synthesis process 68 to synthesize methanol. The restriction of the generation amount of the combustible gas in the melt-pig iron production process 18 becomes unnecessary. Furthermore, a low-grade coal such as steam coal and brown coal can be used in the process 18 to enable the low-cost production of methanol expected as a substitute for gasoline.
