With the introduction of elastic threads, a fabric formed from rectangular strips (1) is produced, the strips each being intended for the manufacture of a brassiere, the said strips being separated by narrow intermediate strips (2) intended to serve as a cutting-out guide for the rectangular strips (1), and comprising a close-mesh, elastic, reinforced lower strip (11), having a width of approximately 2 cm, an upper strip (12) of identical construction and approximately 0.5 cm wide and, symmetrically relative to a median transverse line (A-A), two virtually adjacent, open-mesh, half-moon portions (3) and two transition zones (6), less elastically resistant than the lower (11) and upper (12) strips; the fabric is then cut out along the intermediate strips (2) in order to separate the rectangular strips (1) from each other; a hot-deformation of the half-moon portions (3) is performed on each separated rectangular strip in order to form the cups; the two ends are provided with fastening means.

|
