A rowing machine on which the user does not sit, comprises a base frame with structure supporting an elevated pivot point for an oar lever, which is fitted with footrests at its lower end and hand grips at its upper end and supplied with means to pivot between the said ends, together with means to resist movement of the oar. In use, the exerciser sits on a chair, the machine before him, with his feet on the footrests which he will push forward whilst pulling the upper part of the oar towards himself against resistance, to simulate the action of rowing. The return stroke is unresisted and the machine is stable in use because the pull on the upper oar is counterbalanced by the weight of force in the opposite direction.

|
