A slide member comprises a slide portion, the surface of which comprises a plurality of pyramidal projections whereof the angle of inclination theta from perpendicularity to the plane of said slide portion is up to 30 DEG . The projections occupy at least 50% of the area of said plane and provide a slide surface. Such slide members have improved slide surface oil retention and seizure resistance. The surface layer comprises a lead alloy (80-90% Pb; 3-20% Sn; <10% Cu, In, Ag, Tl, Nb, Sb, Ni, Cd, Te, Bi, Mn, Ca or Ba) and is formed by an electroplating process using a borofluoride-based plating solution. <IMAGE> |
