A band device (2) for retaining a tyre on a wheel rim in the event that the tyre should become deflated, which band device (2) comprises a pair of adjacent end portions (4, 6) which are joined together by fastener means (8), the fastener means (8) comprising a nut (16) and a bolt (18), the bolt (18) comprising a head (20) and a screw threaded shank (22), the nut (16) comprising a screw threaded hole (24) for receiving the shank (22) and a blind bore (26) which extends transversely of the screw threaded hole (24), and the blind bore (26) containing a locking insert (28) which is cut by the shank (22) as the shank (22) is screwed through the nut (16). |
