A method and apparatus for simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry and microdielectrometry is disclosed. The apparatus includes a sample cell (14) containing a sensor (18,20) for measuring the dielectric and thermal properties of the sample. The method applies a voltage to a material while heating the material over a temperature range and then simultaneously measuring the current gain of the material, the temperature of the material and the energy input to the material.
