<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight and to shorten the charging time of a battery incorporated in a portable computer main body by charging the battery with a constant current sent from a constant current generating means. CONSTITUTION:The portable computer system is equipped with the portable computer system main body (system main body) wherein the battery is incorporated and an AC adapter 1 which is arranged outside the system main body. This system main body is equipped with a DC/DC converter 2, a battery pack 3, a power source controller 4, and a power source part. Further, the system main body is equipped with a main CPU 12 which performs various control over the system main body and the main CPU is connected to the controller 4 through a system bus 13. Then the adapter 1 inputs the home AC power of 100V from an outlet 30, and generates and supplies a constant current or voltage to the system main body. Therefore, a constant voltage/constant current switching control is inputted from the controller 4 to a pin 4' of the adapter 1 and the constant voltage or constant current is outputted.</p> |
