PURPOSE:To enhance mechanical strength of a solid electrolyte fuel cell, reduce inside resistance, and increase output density so as to achieve a large size and a large output. CONSTITUTION:A fuel electrode is constituted of a base 25 of a thin plate, on one surface of which a solid electrolyte 21, a comb-like current collecting layer 23-2 and a fuel electrode 22 are formed in order while a comb-like current collecting layer 23-1 is laminated on the other surface. The current collecting layers 23-1, 23-2 are adapted to reduce inside resistance. The resultant unit generating cells 20 are arranged with clearances in such a manner that the same electrodes face to each other, where the clearances serve as passages 33, 34 of two kinds of reaction gases. The current collecting layers 23-1, 23-2 are connected to each other via conductors 31 so that the unit generating cells 20 are connected to each other. Since the base 25 functions as a supporter and the unit generating cells 20 are brought into close contact with each other without any application of a pressure, mechanical strength can be enhanced Meanwhile, the base 25 is formed into a thin plate, thereby achieving a large size and high output density. |
