Connector (1) for mounting on a substrate (2) comprises one or more contact elements (5) accommodated in a housing (3), having a mounting side (19) which, in the mounted state of the connector (1) is situated opposite a face of the substrate (2). The fixing means of the connector (1) consist of at least one element, integral with and projecting outside the plastics housing (3) beyond the mounting side (19) and connected thereto, preferably a pin-type element (7) for engaging in an opening (8) of the substrate (2). The at least one element (7) is disposed so as to be positioned outwards from a wall (9) of the housing (3), which wall (9) adjoins the mounting side (19). The at least one fixing element (7) can also be used for positioning and polarising purposes relative to the substrate (2) (e.g. a pcb or LCD display) and for polarising and stopping a mating connector. The element (7) can space the connector (1) from the substrate. The element (7) holds the connector in place by upsetting the element end or by element projections. A housing (3) provided with such fixing elements (7) is suitable, in particular, for connectors (1) having a pitch distance of 1.27 mm or less. <IMAGE> |
