PURPOSE:To obtain a highly water-absorptive molding by thermoplastic molding. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene oxide is molded into, e.g. a sheet by thermoplastic molding such as extrusion molding, and this sheet is crosslinked by irradiation with an ionizing radiation. Although the molding may be entirely crosslinked, the water-absorbing power can be markedly increased by irradiation with electrons beams as the ionizing radiation. A water-absorbing polymer product, which has heretofore been prepared by dispersing water-absorptive polymer in a fibrous base, can be obtained by thermoplastic molding, and the obtained molding has a high water-absorbing, power an can be subjected to fabrication. |
