PURPOSE:To enhance a cycle characteristic at large depth of discharge by forming a unit grid of a chevrel phase used as a positive electrode active material into structure of a triclinic system independently or a mixture phase of a triclinic system and a hexagonal system. CONSTITUTION:An iron chevrel phase having such a component ratio as to be obtained as a triclinic system independently or a mixture phase of a triclinic system and a hexagonal system is synthesized under a vacuum sealing condition by a high temperature solid reaction of respective component elements. A binder and a conductive agent are added into powder of the resultant compound, followed by kneading and molding, thus obtaining a sheet-like electrode. The electrode is punched into a predetermined size, to be held between stainless steel, and further, the surroundings thereof are spot-welded, thereby manufacturing a positive electrode member 3. |
