PURPOSE:To obtain an antifoam which exhibits an effective and persistently stable antifoaming effect when added to a cleaning fluid having foaming ability, used for alkali cleaning in particular, by using a specified higher alcohol/ propylene oxide adduct as constituent. CONSTITUTION:An antifoam which comprises a compound of the formula (wherein R is 10-20C alkyl or alkenyl; n is 1 to 4). can effectively prevent the foaming of a liquid having foaming ability, such as a cleaning fluid. In particular, it can exhibit an effective and persistently stable antifoaming effect when added to a detergent or cleaning fluid used for alkali cleaning, such as the electrolytic cleaning of metal and the spray cleaning, immersion cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, etc., of the hard surface of, e.g. metal, glass, pottery or plastics. |
