The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a mixture of gangliosides which comprises the following phases: a) subjecting the tissue containing gangliosides to elimination of lipids with acetone in order to obtain an acetone precipitate, b) suspending the acetone precipitate in a first mixture of solvents able to separate hydrophobic substances from hydrophilic substances, c) filtering the separation mixture in order to obtain a first liquid phase, d) subjecting the first liquid phase to precipitation in order to obtain a first raw material, e) dissolving the first raw material and subjecting the dissolved first raw material to heating at a pH value around 12, f) subjecting the dissolved and heated first raw material to a second separation in a second mixture of solvents able to separate hydrophobic substances from hydrophilic substances, g) separating the second separation mixture in order to remove an organic phase and retain an aqueous phase, h) subjecting the aqueous phase to precipitation in order to obtain a second raw material, i) dissolving the second raw material which is subjected to cooling in order to obtain a third raw material, j) dissolving the third raw material in a strong phase, k) neutralizing the dissolved third raw material, and l) subjecting the dissolved and neutralized third raw material to dialysis through a membrane with a molecular weight cut-off of at least about 10 kd in order to obtain a mixture of gangliosides. |
