A lightweight protective vest consisting of front and back parts attached to each other on shoulders and at the sides with Velcro strips, the front and back parts having multi-layer fabric systems, characterized in that the front part (1) of the vest has two pockets (4 and 5) situated in the outside and in the inside respectively, and in the outside pocket (4) there is a replaceable reinforcing liner (7) while in the inside pocket (5) there is a multi-layer fabric system (8), whereas the back part (2) of the vest has a pocket (9) in which there is a multi-layer fabric system (11).<IMAGE>
