A method of producing a cigarette filter with regulated level of side ventilation containing known filtering materials, shaped cylindrically with a wrapping with glue-free zones, characterized in that the cylindrically shaped filtering material is wrapped in porous tissue wrapping paper (2) with air permeability of at least 500 cm<3>/cm<2>.min, and then the filter element (3) thus formed is connected to the cigarette shaft (4) by sticking it with porous tissue sheathing paper (5) with air permeability of 500 to 2,500 cm<3>/cm<2>.min, leaving circular glue-free zones (6) along the entire length of the applied filter, in an arrangement which is transverse to its axis, where the number and width of the zones are set depending on the desired level of side ventilation of the filter, and by their total width, from 1.5 to 12 mm, the level of permeability of the porous wrapping and sheathing tissue papers used, and the length of the filter used in cigarette production.<IMAGE>
