PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight of an air conditioner and an outdoor unit or an indoor unit used for it. CONSTITUTION:There is provided with a pressure bulkhead 3 which separates a suction passage 1 from a blowoff passage 2 where a heat exchanger 4 is laid out in the suction side passage of the pressure bulkhead. A fan 7 which boosts the pressure of air is installed in a space formed by the pressure bulkhead 3, a unit rear side 5, and a unit side 6 while there is formed a flow passage which is located at the outer periphery of the fan 7 and designed to deflects a blow off current to the rear side from the side 6 of the unit in such a fashion that the blowoff current from the side 6 of the unit does not go to the front suction side. Since the fan 7 is centrifugal and blows off the air to its outer periphery, the unit rear side 5 eliminates the need for an air outlet 8 which is conventionally round and large and enables the adoption of panel structure, which makes it possible to reduce its size and weight as well. As a result, this construction is very effective to compact the size of an air conditioner on the whole. |
