Device for the permanent self-lubrication of a transmission chain, especially in a bicycle and more specially in a bike of the mountain type, and the device is characterised in that it is made up of an intermediate wad (5) of absorbent material associated with a reserve (4) containing a lubricant product in the liquid state, and the reserve communicating with the intermediate wad, the said intermediate wad itself being located in the immediate vicinity of a zone for the passage of the chain to be lubricated so as to allow even circulation of the lubricant from the wad to the said chain. <IMAGE>
