The invention relates to a device enabling onions to be peeled dry, causing minimum damage to the product, and with a higher output than existing machines. This device consists of automatic feed means (1), of a cutting member (3), of peeling means which are formed by a conveyor belt (2), by a guiding channel (4) and by a pressing member (5) which itself has a longitudinal cutting blade (6), of oblique blades (7 and 8) designed to criss-cross the skin of the onion, of pressurised air nozzles (9) designed to lift the skins and of an inclined belt (11) which facilitates removal of the onion skin by rotating the onion on itself. The device according to the invention constitutes an extremely flexible (it can be adapted to a wide range of products) and complete production line. <IMAGE>
