The invention relates to a new transition metal organic derivative possessing a porphyrin structure. This derivative corresponds to the following general formula: <IMAGE> in which R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8 and Ar1 , Ar2, Ar3 and Ar4 are especially chosen independently from the following substituents: the usual substituents of modified or natural porphyrins or chlorophylls, in particular hydrogen; a cyclic, branched- or straight-chain C1-C5 lower alkyl; a cyclic, branched- or straight-chain C1-C5 lower alcohol, of primary, secondary or tertiary type; a C1-C6 acid group, in particular acetyl or propionyl; a C2-C6 alkylene radical, in particular a vinyl; and M is a transition metal advantageously other than iron, which is uncoordinated or coordinated to one or a number of C0-C20 ligand groups. This derivative has a hypoglycaemic activity, which makes it advantageous in a therapeutic application. <IMAGE>
